Belgium has 7 academic hospitals. Hôpital Erasme is ULB’s academic hospital. An academic, private and secular institution, it fulfills 3 missions: patient care, teaching and research.
The hospital is located on the Erasme hospital-faculty campus, which includes the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Motor Sciences and the School of Public Health.
Opened in 1977 and now with a capacity of 1,048 beds, the hospital admits between 25,000 and 30,000 inpatients annually, and holds between 350,000 and 400,000 consultations.
More than 4,000 members of staff, in 80 different professions, contribute on a daily basis to providing care under the banner of ambition, excellence and well-being.
